Charleston, SC is in the path of totality for the Great American Eclipse of August 21, 2017! From the beach, observers will see approximately 2:30 of totality, at 2:48 p.m. For the first time in 99 years, a total eclipse of the sun will be visible across the United States.
A total solar eclipse occurs when the sun, moon and earth line up, turning day into night for several minutes and revealing the night sky, a 360-degree sunset, and the sun's corona shining from behind the moon.
With the eclipse happening on Monday, you’ll want to make a weekend of it and enjoy the special activities we’re planning leading up to the big event.
