`The Seven Mile Pilsner has been a well-known beer on property here at Wild Dunes Resort, often paired with our signature 7 Mile Burger. Now, this beer has become even better as we’ve partnered with Charleston’s own Holy City Brewing to improve and brand the beer with a unique Wild Dunes Resort can and to sell on property, and at other local distributors.
“We wanted to brew a crisp and clean lager for the days enjoying all WDR has to offer. The beer pairs well with the great food in the restaurants and the snack bars, in a poolside lounger or on the golf course,” said JT Stellmach from Holy City Brewing on the collaboration. “Lagering is a low and slow process much like a vacation in Charleston. Low temperatures and patience in fermentation help develop a mellow flavor while allowing the malts and hops to show their true characteristics. Seven Mile Pilsner takes time, fermenting and lagering for at least 8 weeks in our stainless steel tanks. After our quality control process the beer is ready for packaging and distribution across the resort and the Lowcountry!”
There are so many ways to enjoy it at the Resort, and now you can also purchase it offsite to keep the taste of vacation with you even when you’re at home. There’s so much action happening at the Resort, especially in the summer but all year round, that there’s never a wrong time to crack open a cold Seven Mile Pilsner to enjoy alongside. Grab one at Hudson’s Market & Café to pack for a beachside picnic. Order one at the Laughing Gull to sip poolside at the Sweetgrass Inn. Buy a pack ahead of time to kick back and drink on the porch of your vacation rental as you watch the stunning Charleston sunset.
About Holy City Brewing
The Holy City Brewing story is about four guys dedicated to craft beer and their community, aiming to bring more of one to the other. Joel Carl and Sean Nemitz teamed up first as business partners in the Charleston rickshaw and pedicab industry. During the slow winter months, they started homebrewing in the rickshaw shed. Soon, they had a custom 15-gallon all-grain pilot system welded from beer kegs and bicycle parts, which can be seen today in their taproom. Mac Minaudo was a friend of theirs who had a 4000-square foot warehouse on Dorchester Road, and Chris Brown was fresh out of brewer’s school, and when the four of them combined their talents, Holy City Brewing was born in 2011.
