We have four new friends calling Wild Dunes Resort home: King, Poe, Sullivan, and DJ! These four are our new signature turtles that generally love to venture around the Resort and the Charleston area. This summer, they’ll be the ones showing you the best places to check out in the Lowcountry, but first, let’s formally introduce you to the turtle team!
King
King is our blue turtle friend, named after the legendary King Street in downtown Charleston. King is the life of the party, and loves to go out shopping, try hot new restaurants, and just all there is to explore downtown. King also loves the historic part of downtown and learning about all the history in store here, whether it’s by walking along the Battery or trying a Ghost tour.
Poe
Poe is our orange turtle and is named after the writer Edger Allen Poe, who is connected to Wild Dunes Resort as he wrote many pieces in this area. Our turtle friend Poe also loves to write under trees around the Resort to get inspiration from the local South Carolina beauty. Poe always recommends a stop at his namesake restaurant on Sullivan’s, where you can get some of the best burgers in the area.
Sullivan
Sullivan is our green turtle, named after Isle of Palms sister island, Sullivan’s Island. Sullivan never misses a chance to make a quick trip over to this close island to check out the fantastic food and drinks or go to the famous Fort Moultrie. While in the area, Sullivan also recommends jumping around and taking an Instagram moment picture on the island rocks the beach is known for.
DJ
Lastly, DJ is our yellow turtle friend whose full name is Daniel James, representing two other of our surrounding islands in the Charleston area. DJ is a quieter soul and helps out at Wild Dunes Resort’s office building on Daniel Island working with our internal teams and getting guests on the books for vacation. DJ loves getting to ride the Ferry from Daniel Island to downtown, and enjoys taking the road trip down to his favorite pier at Folly Beach.
