October in Charleston is all about temperate fall weather, pumpkin spiced treats, and lots of haunted history for Halloween. Enjoy everything spooky and southern the city has to offer this month at Charleston’s Island Resort.
Our favorite part of the fall is our signature Tale of the Fish culinary event. The flavors of the Mediterranean and Adriatic coasts of Italy marry for a deliciously indulgent evening at the Grand Pavilion. Savor the night with Charleston’s own celebrated chef, Ken Vendrinski and a myriad of his friends. On October 14th the evening starts at 4:30 p.m. with a tasting menu and is followed by dessert and drinks. Tickets are available for $95 (21+ only). Make a night of it enjoy accommodations and event tickets with our Tale of the Fish Culinary Escape package.
Ready to get spooked this Halloween? Head to one of Boone Hall Plantation’s Fright Nights. This year’s theme is “Some Things Never Stay Buried.” Walk (or run) through the haunted farmhouse, enter the corn maze and hopefully come out, make your way through the clearing (where there is nowhere to hide), and take a hayride through the haunted woods. Package tickets to all four attractions are on sale for $33. Fast pass tickets are $45. Open every night this month. We hope you make it back to the resort alive after adventuring to this event.
Downtown Charleston always offers haunted walking tours, jailhouse tours, and harbor tours – but they are especially eerie during October. Charleston is the oldest city in the state of South Carolina and has been home to war and natural disaster in the past. Because of that, it is considered one of the most haunted cities in the U.S. Tour some of the most haunted places in the heart of the city like the Old Exchange and Provost Dungeon, the Old City Jail, Poogan’s Porch, Dock Street Theatre, and City Hall. If you dare. Tours start at $25.
Ride the Ferris wheel, listen to live music, walk through local exhibits, and eat something that has been deep fried at this year’s Coastal Carolina Fair. Held in Ladson, SC (a 45 minute drive from the resort) from October 25-November 4, entry tickets are on sale now for $6-10. Ride wristbands are $18. Fill up on food and fun and then head back the island.
