-How do you define a micro wedding?
A micro-wedding is a small affair with far fewer guests than a traditional wedding but unlike an elopement, which is organized by the bride and groom in secret, a micro wedding retains some of the structure of a traditional wedding, except on a smaller scale. I would say 10 to 30 people.
-Why are people choosing micro weddings?
Keeping things smaller and low key helps to eliminate a lot of stress, time and energy for planning and is easier on the budget as well. Sometimes having a micro wedding instead of a large event might feel more authentic in a lot of ways just depending on what types of things a couple values.
-How does the planning timeline of a micro wedding differ from that of a larger wedding?
Since there are probably a lot fewer elements involved in both planning and execution, a micro wedding can be planned in much less time than a larger wedding. The guest list is all closest family and maybe a few friends so they are likely willing to be more flexible with short term plans as well.
-How does the day-of event format with a micro wedding?
Most micro weddings feature a much more streamlined agenda with a focus on what is most important to them without things that might not be as important. Lots of time set aside for getting ready or photos might be eliminated, a larger space to allow for dancing and formal entertainment might be eliminated, large floral arrangements are another thing usually eliminated. The wonderful thing about a micro wedding though is that the couple has a lot more options to do what they want to do and are able to include or eliminate whatever they choose!
-What is your best advice to a couple planning to go small for their big day?
Be brave, be bold, be you! Don’t worry about what anyone else things, going micro allows you the ability to absolutely be true to who you are so embrace it!
