2021 has been a year filled with weddings, with the mix of those that got pushed back due to the coronavirus pandemic, and those who got engaged and decided to take that next step in their relationships during these times. Now that gatherings and larger weddings are starting to be seen again, there has also been a big shift in the trends we’re seeing, especially away from traditional weddings. Here are some of the rising trends that we’re loving from the 2021 wedding season.
Boho Style Dresses
Boho everything! Unique bohemian designs have been popping off the charts this year. Allowing for a variety of features to truly match the dress to the bride, these style dresses have been really creating a unique and fun feature for brides to create a statement with. Whether it be with full open-backs, tassels, or decorative floral prints, having a boho styled dress and wedding is something that brides are loving this year, and we expect to see continue into 2022.
Men’s Suits with Flare
And now bring the attention to the GROOM! This year the men are really stepping out in full force bringing their own flare to the table. Lots of grooms are branching out and doing more unique looks than the basic plain black suits and instead bringing in more color and patterns. Some grooms are having their tuxedo’s customized with some personality on the inside lining, some are doing that with their neckware, and some are just choosing to add a pop of color. No matter what the groom prefers, definitely plan to keep seeing the guys show off more at their weddings in the coming years.
Outdoor Venues
After spending so much of 2020 inside, everyone wants to get out to enjoy the outdoors, and have room for safely precautions as the pandemic’s effects continue. This year more than ever, we are having inquiries for beach weddings on the dreamy coast here at Isle of the Palms, but even more than that everyone seems to be wanting the perfect outdoor atmosphere for their day. From the beach, to our beautiful croquet lawns, to on top of the new Indigo Rooftop, we expect to see an even higher influx of outdoor venue requests into the fall and beyond (especially in the South Carolina climate).
Private Last Dance
This is the new “non-traditional” trend that is slowly becoming the norm of weddings today. Having a private last dance where you send all your guests outside to prepare for the send off gives the bride and groom a moment of peace and serenity together as newlyweds as their day comes to a close. Lots of couples are starting to consider this more memorable than their first dance, even using “their song” for the last dance as opposed to the first in front of everyone. This trend is definitely one we expect to continue to see implemented in weddings for years to come!
Minimalistic with a Personal Touch
Minimalism is all the rage in general now-a-days, but especially at weddings following the pandemic. Lots of couples have reconsidered what their day should look like after having to have plans cancelled or altered to smaller versions in the last year. With that, couples are now seeming to stick with more simplistic wedding decor to instead focus on the location and personalization of their party. Something that their guests will keep to remember the day forever? That’s what couples are doing more often now, to really cement their day down in history.
