SAN DIEGO, Calif. – Gearing up for a busy sports viewing season – from fall football to the World Series – Charlie’s, the sports, beer and good eats venue at Town and Country Resort, A Destination Hotel, has appointed a new chef de cuisine, Matt Hobbs, and completed a $200,000 revamping of its interiors.
With Hobbs at the helm – directed by newly appointed executive chef and culinary visionary Paul McCabe – there’s a brand new menu of innovative takes on favorite snacks, burgers, BBQ and more, as well as new furniture and tech improvements for bigger and better sports viewing.
Whether relaxing after a day of playing or meetings, enthusiastically following sports events or taking a break from competitive video gaming or shooting pool, Charlie’s offers a new menu of Snacks like Fried Pickles and Jalapeño Chips, Deviled Egg + Red Fresno or Poutine + French Fries. There’s also Charlie’s Chili with Jalapeño Cornbread and Grilled Wedge Salad. A choice of Burgers includes Pig Mac (1 Beef Patty + 1 Pork Patty + Bacon + Shredded Lettuce +1000 Island + Cheddar). And, BBQ specialties fill the bill with Texas Rope Sausage Slow Smoked with Hickory, Peach Wood Baby Back Ribs and Smoked Half Chicken. There’s more too, including Pastry Chef Jack Fisher’s desserts such as Cocoa Nib Cake + Candied Bacon + Fudge.
Charlie’s craft beer selection quenches with 10 taps of local beers including Karl Strauss Red Trolley Ale, Green Flash East Village Porter and Ballast Point Longfin Lager. Expertly concocted cocktails feature premium spirits, and there are signature quaffs like U4ik Margarita and OMG (orange, maple and ginger) featuring Malahat ginger rum. The restaurant’s mixologists have also created some outstanding non-alcoholic, lemonades using California’s bounty of fresh fruits and citrus.
Over $200,000 has been spent on revitalizing Charlie’s – new tables, carpeting, interior paint and an improved music system. There are nine new HD TVs and an 80” HD big screen. DirecTV carries the NFL Ticket so sports fans can still watch their home teams and other sports programming including hockey, soccer, golf, NASCAR and more while enjoying the vibe, new menu and camaraderie at the new Charlie’s.
Sunday to Thursday, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.; Friday and Saturday, 11 a.m. to midnight.
