    A Place for Suncadia Insiders

    Jan 27, 2017

Welcome to The Suncadia Scoop, your one-stop-shop for all things Suncadia Resort in Washington State. Get the latest and greatest from hotel happenings to local events, and maybe even learn a little something along the way!

We love the outdoors and we know you do too, which is why Suncadia Resort is the best way to experience nature at its finest. To show you how much we care about this earth and our little slice of heaven, we’re kicking off our first post of 2017 with four fun eco-facts.

We are lucky to call the Pacific Northwest home and even luckier to have that home nestled among the gorgeous Cascade Mountains. It’s not everyday that you can look out your window and view thousands of acres of Mother Nature as far as the eye can see - and we never take it for granted. That’s why our defining philosophy is to respect and preserve the natural character of the site. At Suncadia Resort, our focus is to enjoy the wide open spaces and restore wild lands. After all, why mess with a good thing?

    1. The Great(er) Outdoors – Over 4,600 of Suncadia’s 6,400 acres in Washington are designated open space - that is more than 70% of the resort community! In that space we have three golf courses and several stretches of native forest with special conservation easements for our wildlife friends. We’ve created a wildlife preserve of more than 3,400 acres known as the Suncadia Conservancy. It’s protected by an agreement with the Kittitas Conservation Trust and runs along both banks of the Cle Elum River. We love our four-legged, scaly, and furry friends, which is why we are helping restore and protect the area for the migration of species such as salmon, deer, elk, and cougar.

    2. Act Natural – Did you know Suncadia and Tumble Creek have nearly 800 homes and condos? If you’ve ever taken a drive by them you may have noticed a more natural looking landscape in the yards. To preserve water and encourage natural growth and use of resources, limits on the amount of irrigation permitted allows primarily native plants to flourish. In our opinion, less is waaay more!

Unlikely Neighbors – We encourage all of our homeowners to be neighborly, even when their neighbors sport antlers and hooves. To ensure that happens, we’ve made all homes remain fence free to allow the wildlife to wander freely. The open green spaces of each home are what make them feel like you don’t just live amongst nature but that you are actually part of the flora and fauna. While we never suggest that you approach wildlife directly, we definitely agree with having an “open door” policy…so to speak.

    4. Wish Upon A Star – Nothing beats the crisp mountain air and clear skies of Cle Elum. We love that in just over an hour by car from Seattle you can escape city life and feel worlds away the second you enter the resort. For this reason, we make sure that all homes keep a natural and inviting look for both visitors and the property’s natural inhabitants. By sticking to the International Dark-Sky Initiative, we can minimize the amount of upward escaping light pollution and keep our magnificent blanket of stars shining bright all night - making your star gazing parties and nighttime walks even more astonishing.
