    School's Out for...Summer!

    June 20, 2017

    School’s Out for….Summer!

Summer break is just around the corner (I am counting down the days!) and that means one thing- family vacation! This year it’s my turn to help plan our next family trip and I am so excited because I know just the place to go.

Usually mom plans our summers for us and makes sure I have plenty of fun things to do- whether I am going to camp, visits to grandma and grandpa’s house, and lots of pool time with my friends- but this year we really wanted to go somewhere we could do all of that and more.

We always try to plan one big trip where we can all stay for a few days and relax but sometimes its tricky to find somewhere that we’ll all like- my dad usually wants to play golf or workout, while my mom likes to sneak away to the spa or lay by the pool, my brother and sister only want to run around the hotel and play games until they wear themselves out, and I am somewhere in between all of that- as long as I can eat dessert after every meal I am pretty happy.

After a whole lot of thinking (about 5 minutes) I remembered we took a trip to Suncadia last winter and had a blast. I got to eat s’mores and drink hot cocoa every day and they had sleigh rides with the cutest horses named Tip and Lucky. We even got my dad to go tubing, which was pretty funny to see. Not only did my parents love it because they can enjoy “adult” stuff like fancy dinners at Portals, spa dates at the Glade Spring Spa, or drink wine at Swiftwater Cellars Winery, but Suncadia has SO much for kids to do.

When I told my mom my brilliant idea she did some digging and really liked the it because Suncadia has multiple pools, cabin style rental homes and an awesome new kids program called, KidCadia!  The coolest part about KidCadia is the 15 different activities, and if I finish all of them I get a prize!

After taking a peek at the full list these were just some of my favorites:

    • SPLASH – I can race my brother down the two-story water slides, even though I think I’ll win every time!
    • ARROWHEAD – I have never tried archery, but if its anything like in the movies I know it will be really cool.
    • CAMPER – A day alone, no parents and full of activities (supervised of course!). We can do crafts and field trips around the resort.
    • GREEN THUMB – I help my mom in the garden sometimes and I want to see where the veggies are grown.

I can’t wait for this summer to start- fingers crossed my parents let us stay at Suncadia long enough so I can do everything possible. I hope to see all of you this summer on our way to completing the KidCadia Adventure Collection!
