Upper Kittitas County has a wealth of outdoor locations to take advantage of on your visit. Here are a few ideas mere minutes from the resort:
Picnic By the River near Salmon La Sac: Drive through the towns of Roslyn and Ronald and past Lake Cle Elum on 903 N until you see the turn off for Cooper Lake. Park along the road and grab a table if you are lucky enough to snag one or make your own spot down on the banks of the Cle Elum River with the sunshine filtering through the trees and dancing off the water.
Beach Day at Lake Cle Elum: Pack up the family and bring all your beach gear. Upper Kittitas County has its own sandy beach on the shores of massive Lake Cle Elum. A popular spot on a sunny day, bring your sunscreen, towels, and pack a cooler for a fun afternoon hanging with the locals. No parking in the lot? Not to worry – park right on the beach (just be sure your car can make it out.)
Easy Hiking and Epic Hiking: Great hiking is all around in upper Kittitas County, whether it an easy climb through the Roslyn Urban Forest or hitting a trail off of 903 N that leads you on an 8-mile round trip hike to Cathedral Pass, crossing over the famed Pacific Coast Trail. Always be safe and prepared; bring plenty of water and download trail maps prior to your trek as cell reception is spotty.
