Summer in Stowe, Vermont is short yet sweet, and provides some great opportunities to get out on the water and cool down. For guests lucky enough to visit us during these beautiful summer days, these are my top three activities that take place on water:
1. Canoe, Kayak, and Stand-Up Paddleboard tours - From the Lamoille River to the Waterbury Reservoir, opportunities for paddle sports will not disappoint. My personal favorite would be the Water to Wine tour – a one hour guided paddle down the Lamoille River to the beautiful Boyden Valley Winery for a wine tasting and tour. Who wouldn’t enjoy that?
2. Fly Fishing – Break out the waders or just grab some shorts and get right in there as you cast flies to Rainbow and Brook Trout in one of central Vermont’s beautiful, calm rivers. Expert guides provide all equipment and instruction necessary to provide guests with an enjoyable, seamless experience.
3. Stowe Waterfall Tour – A comfortable ride through the back roads of Stowe brings explorers to three of the most beautiful waterfalls in New England, all within a 10 mile radius of Stowe Mountain Lodge. The tour concludes at the spectacular Bingham Falls, a 25-foot waterfall hidden in the woods near the base of Mount Mansfield. Don’t forget your swimsuit and towel so you don’t miss out on the opportunity to cool off in the swimming holes that accompany these mountain falls.
