Bob Cupp, Course Designer
Bob Cupp, the renowned golf course architect of Stowe Mountain Club, has created a breathtaking wilderness course among the gently sloping hills of Mount Mansfield and Spruce Peak.
After graduating from the University of Miami with a bachelor’s degree in art, and obtaining a Masters in Fine Arts through the US Army in Alaska, Cupp took a job as a golf professional. His interest in art and his love for golf quickly landed him jobs assisting in the rebuilding of golf courses. Cupp returned to school and obtained an Associate Degree in Agronomy and served as senior course designer for Jack Nicklaus for 15 years.
Some years later, Cupp formed Cupp Design, Inc., and has designed and created more than 80 courses since 1984. In the company’s first ten years of existence, Cupp Design won more than ten “Best New Course” recognition awards. Adding to his success, more than 50 national and international tournaments, including seven majors, have been hosted at courses that Cupp has designed.
In his twenty three years as a golf course designer, supervisor and construction specialist, Cupp has proven himself an expert in artistic golf course design.
