TAKE TWO: SKAMANIA LODGE TO DEBUT TWO NEW TREE HOUSES THIS FALL

Two additional on-property tree houses will give guests a new way to experience the Columbia River Gorge’s destination lodge

STEVENSON, Wash.  (June 1, 2017)  –  Skamania Lodge, a Destination Hotel, the Columbia River Gorge’s awarding-winning destination, recently broke ground on two new tree houses, set to open in September of 2017. This is the second pair of tree houses, the first opened in the summer of 2016.

“We’re thrilled at the way our first two tree houses turned out,” said Skamania Lodge General Manager Ken Daugherty. “They became so popular, we wanted to be able to provide our guests with additional options to truly have that quintessential Columbia River Gorge experience.”

Like the first two tree houses, these are nestled in the tall Douglas Firs of the Columbia River Gorge, and a simple yet stunning aesthetic connects guests with the beauty of the Gorge; the new tree houses are also elevated 15-20 feet above the ground. The biggest difference between the new tree houses is they will boast two beds, meaning couples and families alike can experience the luxury of nature.

A bit of whimsy, a bit refined-rustic and a dash of nostalgia, the new tree houses will also have a large outdoor deck with stunning views of the Gorge, a fireplace for cozy nights, a spectacular bathroom, a lavish king bed and a cozy “nook” double bed with a curtain that can separate the two.

In line with the first two tree houses, design elements were once again inspired from the idea of a creative childhood, with carefree days and playing outdoors.

Tree house guests are a short walk from all the lodge’s offerings, like the Waterleaf Spa, hiking trails, Skamania Lodge Golf Course, and dining facilities, while still experiencing the peace and quiet of sleeping among the trees.

Seattle-based architectural design firm MG2 designed the tree houses; Portland-based Ankrom Moisen created the interior design; and Stevenson, Wash.-based Invision Construction was the general contractor overseeing construction of the tree houses, who exclusively hired local subcontractors for the job.
