Spring Wedding Trends | Compare Hotels

What's new for spring weddings in 2016? Plenty. From donut displays to 3D-printed cake toppers and flowing watercolor gowns, today's weddings are less about tradition and are more of a reflection of the bride and groom's personalities. Though spring is quickly surpassing summer as the season for weddings, it's a tricky time that requires a lot of planning. Take a look at these tips to help you compare hotels, plan for the unexpected and get started putting together the big day.

Make a Color Statement

Pastel colors at spring weddings are so last year. For your spring wedding, choose bright, bold colors that will stand out. If you do want pastels, we suggest modernizing them by pairing them with colors that give them a nice contrast. A rich espresso paired with a sky blue or light pink or lavender paired with a bright lime green or coral are sure to make a statement. Only use two colors, however, or you'll lose that elegant look.

Keep an Eye on the Weather

Depending on where you live, your spring wedding day may be a rainy one. If you live in a region where torrential April showers bring May flowers, you have two options: have a Plan B for any outdoor venues or activities, or choose a destination wedding in a place such as Scottsdale. With warm days, cool nights and minimal rainfall, Scottsdale is the ideal place to go in the spring.

Choose the Right Venue

As you compare hotels, make sure you ask all the right questions:

  • Do you have rooms that will comfortably hold our party? There's nothing worse than cramming a lot of people into a small room or letting a large room swallow up a small wedding party.
  • Will we be assigned a wedding coordinator? It's very important that you have a designated person to deal with at the venue, as there are many details that need to be looked after such as finding a separate space for the bridal party to do hair and makeup
  • Are there location fees and minimum spending on food and beverage? You don't want a financial crisis to hit on the big day, so be sure you know all of the costs involved.
  • Can we reserve a block of rooms for our guests? You'll want your out-of-town guests to stay in the hotel, so make sure you've planned it all well in advance.

As you compare hotels, keep in mind that at The Scottsdale Resort McCormick Ranch, we offer a comprehensive wedding package. You won't have to worry about any of the setup, as we supply everything you need to get you through the cocktail hour and reception, including a complimentary guest book. Umbrellas and space heaters are supplied at no charge, and we can even supply the flowers for a small additional fee. We look forward to hosting your big day.
