For car enthusiasts, there are two renowned events taking place:

• Barrett-Jackson is touted as the World’s Greatest Collections Car Auctions and features some of the most coveted cars in the world. Drawing celebrities, buyers, sellers and car enthusiasts from around the world, Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale will take place January 23-31 at Westworld.
• Russo and Steele in Scottsdale is where the market for collector cars is established each year. Buyers and sellers from around the world will attend January 27-31 at Scottsdale Road and the 101 Freeway.

It’s a little bit of heaven – football heaven, that is. All eyes will be on the Valley for several high-profile collegiate games:

• The Fiesta Bowl will take place on Friday, January 1, at the University of Phoenix Stadium, in Glendale. Spectators can also visit the Ziegler Fiesta Bowl Museum to see 44 years of Fiesta Bowl history, as well as watch the long-standing National Bank of Arizona Fiesta Bowl Parade.
• The 27th Annual Motel 6 Cactus Bowl pits the West Virginia Mountaineers against the Arizona State Sun Devils. The game takes place Saturday, January 2, at Chase Field.
• It’s an exciting time for football fans as Phoenix hosts the 2016 College Football Playoff National Championships, January 11, at the University of Phoenix Stadium.
