How To Find the Best Hotels for Families

At The Scottsdale Resort at McCormick Ranch, we believe the terms family resort and luxury resort are not mutually exclusive. Instead, we contend that the best hotels are those that offer the same level of service and accommodations to families as they do business travelers. Scottsdale is a favorite family destination due to the number age-appropriate attractions for toddlers and teenagers alike. We are dedicated to being one of the best hotels for families in the greater Phoenix area are excited to share a few of our favorite family-friendly hotspots.

    Butterfly Wonderland

With thousands of butterflies from around the globe, the atrium at Butterfly Wonderland is the largest butterfly conservatory in America. Share the wonder of science with your family as you watch as butterflies emerge from their chrysalises in the Butterfly Emergence Gallery. In addition to butterflies, you can catch a close-up view of honeybees, desert insects and even exotic fish native to the Amazon at Butterfly Wonderland.

    McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park

This railroad themed park is perfect for train enthusiasts of any age. The highlight of the park is Paradise and Pacific Railroad. Built to an exact 5/12ths scale, the railroad was the park’s first attraction. You can also go for a ride on the Scottsdale Charro Carousel. When you’ve finished riding the rails and carousel, you can explore the park’s other unique exhibits including an authentic Pullman car, a boxcar from the Merci Train, and the one-of-a-kind, 10,000-square-foot model railroad building that houses four model railroad clubs.

    Sugar Bowl

Originally opened on Christmas Eve in 1958, the Sugar Bowl Ice Cream Parlour and Restaurant serves up food and fountain treats with a side of nostalgia in “Old Town” Scottsdale. While the Sugar Bowl offers a full menu, it is the three pages of ice cream, sherbet and ice cream soda treats that earned it a recurring mention in the Family Circus comics of Paradise Valley resident, Bil Keane. The young and young-at-heart will love this family-owned and operated ice cream institution.

We understand that family includes pets for many people. Our pet-friendly guest rooms open directly to the outdoors. We are proud to be one of the best hotels for pets in the Phoenix area.

After a long day of exploring Scottsdale, you and your family can return to The Scottsdale Resort at McCormick Ranch for rest and relaxation. With two outdoor pools and stunning views, we offer a secluded escape only minutes from the attractions of Scottsdale.
