Once you've settled in at our Scottsdale Resort at McCormick Ranch, you may never want to leave, especially if you are looking for the best spa in Scottsdale. But, if you're an outdoor enthusiast, you can't go your entire stay in Scottsdale without spending some time soaking in the natural beauty and magnificent scenery. There are plenty of guided ATV and Jeep tours available, but hiking some of Scottsdale's trails is the best way to experience the Sonoran Desert.
If you're a hiker and a camera buff, Lost Dog Wash at the McDowell Sonoran Preserve is a good bet for you. As you hike the trail, you'll have a birds-eye view of landmarks such as Frank Lloyd Wright's Taliesin West, Camelback Mountain and Pinnacle Peak. Pull out the camera when you hit the Lost Dog Overlook, which was once home to a site where Native Americans made their tools. Time it right, and you'll be awash in a sea of wildflowers. Also located at the Preserve, Tom's Thumb Trail also features fabulous scenery, but its 1,300-foot elevation across 2.5 miles is for more experienced hikers.
If you're an early riser, head out to the McDowell Sonoran Preserve. It opens precisely at sunrise, so you can beat the heat and get a nice workout along Bell Pass or Windgate Pass. Bring a thermos of coffee so you can stop along the way and relax while you enjoy the morning sun rising over Four Peaks.
Work off those calories from the chorizo hush puppies and filet mignon you had last night at the Scottsdale Resort McCormick Ranch's Kitchen West Restaurant by hiking the summit trails at Camelback Mountain's Echo Canyon or Cholla. In addition to scenic views of the city, you'll work up a sweat along the way. For a change of pace, try the McDowell Sonoran Preserve's Sunrise Peak Trail, which climbs roughly 1,100 feet in a mere 2.5 miles.
The Gateway Loop Trail is great for families with children of all ages. It's barrier-free and ADA accessible, so strollers are no problem. Older kids might like the interior trails that are a bit more challenging, but all ages will love the half-mile Bajada Nature Trail, which has games and activities along its path.
With so many hiking choices, you may not be able to choose just one during your stay at the Scottsdale Resort at McCormick Ranch. But, no matter which hike to decide upon, there is no question that a visit to the best spa in Scottsdale will help you to relax. Enjoy many of our pampering treatments at our Luna Spa. From hot stone massages to rejuvenating foot masques, your escape to ultimate tranquility is the perfect way to unwind after a day on the trails.
