HISTORY OF ROYAL ST. CHARLES HOTEL
Our building that is now the Royal St. Charles Hotel was once known as the Southern Federal Savings Bank. In 2000, the conversion of the property from commercial office space to one of the most conveniently located hotels near the French quarter. Today, the transformed building thrives as a vibrant New Orleans hotel, and all that remains of its origins is the old bank vault that is still intact. Our hotel’s name honors two of the city’s most historic thoroughfares in Royal Street and St. Charles Avenue.
