Birthday parties, rehearsal dinners, wedding showers, company parties and other events are always fun to attend, but not always fun to plan. Learn how to turn your event planning experience from weak to wow with these easy tips.
1. Set a comfortable budget
One of the most important elements in planning a private event is knowing how much you’re willing to spend. By knowing what you’re comfortable with from the start, venue searching will be a breeze! If you’re working with a smaller budget, consider planning the event on a week night (Sunday through Thursday), or sticking with beer and wine instead of cocktails.
2. Know your guests
How large of a party are you planning? Knowing your guest count is one of the most important elements in securing a venue for your event. After you decide how many people will attend, think about their habits. Do they enjoy a fun, loud atmosphere, or more of a serene getaway? Would they prefer custom craft cocktails, or a specially made dessert? By knowing your guests’ habits, your event is sure to be one to talk about.
3. Do your research
Before committing to a venue or vendors, do some research to see what separate locations might include for your event. Would you want to pay for a less expensive venue, where you might have to bring in outside vendors at an additional cost? Or, would you prefer to pay more for an all-inclusive, custom experience? Knowing the answers to these questions will help you tremendously during the planning stage.
4. Trust your event planner
If you’re working with an event planner or other related expert, know that you are in good hands! While planning an event can be stressful, event planners are there to make your life easier. Trust the process, take a deep breath, and relax! That brings us to…
5. Have fun!
While you may be in charge of your private event, remember that you’re part of the party too. This is your day – make sure you live it!
