Your safety and wellbeing has always been, and will continue to be, the number one priority for our team at Motif Seattle and the entire World of Hyatt. Before we can welcome you back to Seattle, we must first deliver on our purpose of care during and beyond the COVID-19 pandemic. Though COVID-19 has fundamentally changed the world of travel, what remains is Hyatt's 60-year legacy of guest care. That's why we're joining Hyatt in bringing you a refreshed care and cleanliness commitment.
This care and cleanliness commitment re-evaluates every aspect of the hotel experience, protecting your safety and well-being across hotel rooms, lobbies, spas, restaurants, and more. Hyatt is bringing in the latest in research, technology, and innovation to better care for travelers all over the world.
We can't wait to reopen our doors and invite you to once again explore Seattle whenever you're ready. In the meantime, we'll be preparing for your arrival through the following cleanliness initiatives:
In May 2020, Hyatt plans to introduce a GBAC STAR™ accreditation through a performance-based program that will focus on establishing hotel environments that are safe, sanitary and healthy. Hyatt is the first hospitality brand to announce plans to commit to GBAC STAR™ accreditation which will include detailed training at more than 900 Hyatt hotels worldwide, complemented with regular internal and third-party auditing.
We continue to develop new work procedures and mandatory trainings in an effort to ensure safety for guests and colleagues. By September 2020, every Hyatt hotel will have at least one person on property trained as a Hygiene Manager who will be responsible for their hotel adhering to new operational guidance and protocols, inclusive of implementation of enhanced food safety and hygiene protocols for group meetings and events.
At the onset of the COVID-19 crisis, Hyatt assembled a cross-functional response team and engaged infectious diseases and occupational health experts to support efforts with COVID-19 research findings and information. Hyatt continues to engage additional medical experts and leading industry professionals, with a goal to provide counsel on key areas of Hyatt’s business, driving us to act even more holistically in this new environment.
