7 Romantic Things to Do in Seattle

Romance can mean different things to different people. But in Seattle, it’s simple: it’s scenic views, good food, and time with the one you love. Whether you catch the city on a precious blue sky day or embark on an adventure in the rain, romance is around every corner.

Spend your getaway cozied up over a cup of world-famous coffee, picnicking in the park, or even cruising the Seattle harbor. Turn up the togetherness on your vacation with these seven romantic things to do in Seattle, all just steps from Motif Seattle.

Visit the Space Needle Observation Deck

Few things are more inspiring than gazing out over the city hand-in-hand. Though there are countless places in Seattle to soak up a good view, the Space Needle Observation Deck is one of the best.

Feel the butterflies build as you ascend 500 feet above the Seattle Center. Snap a couple’s selfie on the “floor to forever” glass benches before claiming a spot for two on The Loupe, the Space Needle’s Rotating glass floor. Don’t forget to stick around for a cocktail or two at the intimate Loupe Lounge.

Ride the Great Wheel

On the Great Wheel, you and your loved one will have no choice but to cozy up. Located on Pier 57, the wheel will carry you high above Seattle for views of both the downtown skyline and sparkling Elliott Bay.

Ride the wheel during the day, then head back in the evening for the Great Wheel Light Show. Over 500,000 lights cover the wheel, all of which are illuminated every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from dusk to 10 p.m.

Go on an Urban Wine Tasting

Seattle may be known for its coffee, but it actually deserves just as much credit for its wine. The Emerald City is home to countless urban wineries, each of which showcase unique varietals. Many wineries either offer tastings for a fee (often waived with a purchase!) or a wine flight so you can sample as many varieties as you’d like.

Test your palette at Kerloo Cellars. Try all the best Pacific Northwest wines at Full Pull wines. Or enjoy a glass (or a bottle) overlooking Seattle at Frolik Kitchen + Cocktails

Tour the “Sleepless in Seattle” Filming Locations

See Seattle through the eyes of one of the most romantic movies set in Seattle: Sleepless in Seattle. Though the story takes place in Seattle, much of the film was shot here, too. Walk in the steps of 90’s rom-com greats Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan by visiting the many romantic sites that appear in the film—many of which happen to be Seattle’s most popular attractions!

Visit Tom Hanks’s floating home in Lake Union. Cozy up at a cafe on First Avenue between Stewart and Pine. Or catch a glimpse of downtown from Alki Avenue Southwest.

Picnic in the Park

Grab a cozy blanket, a basket packed with goodies, and maybe even a bottle of wine, and you have the makings of the perfect romantic outing: a picnic! Seattle has parks aplenty, making it an ideal place for a picnic in the park. Cuddle up on a blanket as you enjoy views of the city, the sound, or lush landscaping.

Snack in the shadow of modern art masterpieces at Olympic Sculpture Park. Look out over Elliott Bay from your own private piece of Discovery Park’s 534 acres. Or head to Gas Works for rolling hills and views of Seattle over Lake Union.

Board a Harbor Cruise

Set out on one of Seattle’s signature adventures: a harbor cruise. This narrated, one-hour cruise is not only the best way to learn about the city’s history, but also a great way to sightsee hand-in-hand. From the cruise ship’s deck out on Elliott Bay, nothing is standing between you and views of the city.

Though the cruise will keep you entertained, there’s also a full bar on-board so you can toast to your romantic vacation. Sip a cocktail, local wine, or craft beer as you soak up the salty sea air.

Buy a Bouquet at Pike Place

Nothing says romance quite like fresh flowers. In Seattle, you’ll find the freshest at Pike Place Market. Come spring, the market stalls are packed with fresh flowers from local farms and gardens. Find the perfect bloom for your love, then snap a couple’s photo in front of the iconic red neon sign.

While you’re at the market, grab a cup of coffee at the original Starbucks before strolling the halls. You never know what gifts and souvenirs you’ll find. If you’re in the mood for something sweet, snack on freshly-fried donuts (served up in a brown paper bag!) from Daily Dozen Doughnut
