Betty Ford Alpine Gardens

"Vail's Alpine Treasure" is situated at 8,250 ft above sea level, making it the highest botanical garden in the U.S. The gardens offer tours, educational programs, classes, and exhibits. Visitors will love the assortment of beautiful high elevation plants, exotic alpine wildflowers, perennial beds, rock gardens, and waterfalls. Directions

Colorado Snow Sports Museum

Guided tours, fascinating ski exhibits, historical artifacts, interactive media features. The newly renovated museum is located at the Vail Transportation Center in Vail Village. The museum explores the rich history of skiing and snowboarding in Colorado. Admission is free for visitors. Directions

John A. Dobson Ice Arena

The Dobson Ice Arena is the largest multi-purpose ice rink on the Western Slope of Colorado. The rink features public skating, classes, competition, and the local semi-pro Vail Yeti hockey team. Directions

Donovan Park

Located in West Vail along the South Frontage Road and the bike path, Donovan Park is a large community park open to the public. Donovan Park features a big playground full of swing sets, slides and climbing features that kids love. Park benches, a covered awning, picnic tables and a public grill make Donovan Park a good location for gatherings with family and friends. Athletic fields, a basketball court, public restroom facilities and a water fountain also make Donovan Park a great place for sports and recreation. Donovan Pavilion, a large wedding and events facility, is also located here. Directions

During the summer season, Vail's Adventure Ridge transforms into Epic Discovery. Rated as Vail's #1 activity, Epic Discovery features adventure courses, ziplines, a mountain coaster, tubing hills, a climbing wall, bungee trampoline, and more. Directions

Ford Park

Ford Park is the largest of Vail's community parks. It features a large playground for children with slides, climbing features and swings. This park's athletic fields, tennis center, half-court basketball area and public restroom facilities can hold a variety of sporting events and tournaments. Directions

Gerald R. Ford Amphitheater

The Ford Amphitheater is a wonderful venue set in the breathtaking backdrop of the Rocky Mountains. Concerts and performances are given an intimate setting with covered seating holding 1,265 people and the grassy hillside seating allowing for 1,300 people. The venue holds Vail's main concerts during the summertime and visitors can purchase food and drinks inside. Directions

Vail Golf and Nordic Clubhouse

The Vail Nordic Center offers 17 km of daily groomed skate and classic track as well as 10 km of scenic snowshoeing trails. The center also offers 13 km of "fat biking" trails and rents these bikes. Visitors can rent nordic skis and snowshoes and daily lessons are offered. During the summer, the center offers a beautifully maintained 18-hole golf course and driving range. Directions

A 1940s homestead perched between a mountain meadow and the forested bank of Gore Creek houses the Vail Nature Center. This seven-acre facility, in the heart of Vail, is a tranquil gem to explore the web of trails along Gore Creek or come inside to learn from the exhibits and knowledgeable staff.
