Family Friendly Winter Activities in Vail

Ice Skating- Just steps from your condo at Montaneros Vail slip on some skates and ice skate under the snow covered village in Lionshead. It’s the perfect place to wind down after a day of skiing. Let the kids ice skate their last bit of energy as you grab a slice of pizza at Blue Moose, one of Lionshead's Vail Restaurants located next to the skating rink.

Snowmobiling-Skiing is not the only snowy adventure in Vail, Colorado! Explore the back country of deep powder or easy cruising on a snowmobile. Nova guides and Sage Outdoor Adventures offer snowmobiling for families ages 9 and up. They will even pick you up from your Vail vacation rental!

Snowshoeing - Need a break from skiing but still want to enjoy the fresh mountain air? Vail Walking Mountains science center offers daytime and evening snowshoe tours. Hop on the Eagle Bahn gondola (must have a valid lift pass), just steps from Montaneros Vail and make your way through Vail Mountain while learning about winter ecology and animal adaptations.

Adventure Ridge-You don’t have to go far for tubing, kids snowmobiling, a mountain coaster, and ski bikes! Our Lionshead condos are located a short walk to the Eagle Bahn Gondola. After a scenic gondola ride to the top of Vail Mountain take your pick of adventures for the whole family.  Snow tubing in Vail is a great way to get the whole family together racing down the mountain with incredible views of Vail Valley. The mountain coaster gets the adrenaline pumping as you swirl through the snow-capped trees, the best part being you pick the speed you dare to go. Experience Vail at night at a higher elevation.

Skiing- Vail offers 5,289 acres of skiable terrain for all ages and levels. Ski school is great for young ones or those just starting out and is located at the base of the gondola, a short walk from our condos in Vail. Take the family skiing Vail back bowls with challenging yet exhilarating terrain or stick to the simple runs great for kids like magic forest, practice parkway, and coyote crossing. Enjoy on mountain dining at Two Elk and The 10th when you’re ready to rest before hitting the slopes again.

Dog Sledding-For a relaxing snowy winter day, dog sledding is the best way to escape in the mountains. Cozy up in blankets with the family and a cup of hot cocoa to take in the scenic views with a chance to spot coyote, fox, deer, and elk!

Bowling- Hop on the free in-town bus in front of your Vail condo and head to Vail Village to Bol. Experience delicious dinner and drinks as the whole family bowls together.
