DENVER, Colo. - January 19, 2016 – Destination Hotels has teamed up with Tesla Motors to provide an increasingly desirable amenity; Tesla Destination Charging. Tesla High Power Wall Connectors add nearly 60 miles of range per hour to Model S and Model X, charging the vehicles overnight and replicating the convenience Tesla owners are accustomed to at home. The Tesla Destination Charging Stations are offered across the Destination Hotels collection from coast to coast. Destination is the largest operator of independent hotels, resorts and residences in North America.
As part of Destination Hotels’ Destination Earth program and commitment to practices and programs that lessen its carbon footprint, the brand joins a rapidly growing network of resorts in Tesla’s Destination Charging Program. Tesla partners with hotels, resorts, and restaurants around the world to offer High Power Connectors as an amenity for visitors, allowing them to charge their Teslas at locations where they want to stay for several hours. Tesla vehicles offer 270+ miles of range on a single charge so the High Power Wall Connector can easily top off the cars in just a few hours.
“Destination Hotels is always finding new ways to heighten and improve the guest experience. This collaboration, with the leading-edge technology and the forward-thinking of Tesla demonstrates our commitment to provide outstanding service and offerings,” said Jamie Sabatier, President and COO of Destination Hotels. “We now have the ability to offer guests seamless and convenient charging during their stay.”
Destination Hotels launched Destination Earth across its entire portfolio of luxury and upscale properties in 2008, an intrepid endeavor in the industry that focuses on measures to reduce energy, water and waste produced by the hotels and hotel guests. The program is monitored through on-site green teams that coordinate environmental practices throughout all hotel departments. Individual guests and corporate travelers have the opportunity to engage in environmental initiatives throughout the year. Programming includes biking excursions around resorts and participating in property composting programs as well as the Read & Reuse program where guests can donate used books and magazines to local nonprofit organizations. The properties continually find creative ways to reduce paper given to guests, like emailing the daily newspaper instead of distributing to all guest rooms.
The Destination Hotels and other Tesla Destination Charging locations are hosted on Tesla’s interactive webpage and were recently GPS located on Model S and Model X’s navigation through a free software update sent wirelessly to the car. Tesla owners are now able to use the 17” touchscreen in their vehicles to easily plan trips and locate the property.
