Englewood, Colorado – October 1, 2015 – Destination Hotels – the largest operator of independent hotels in the country – announces today the launch of its Signature Touchpoints, a brand-wide initiative created to truly enhance the guest experience through authentic and locally-inspired offerings at each hotel and resort. The three Signature Touchpoints – Destination Taste, Destination Discovery and Destination Suitcase – will be a complimentary offering extended to every guest, set to debut at all of the properties across the portfolio by the end of 2015. The program was developed as part of Destination Hotels’ recent brand re-energize, showcasing a new look and attitude as it evolves into a consumer-facing, foundational brand and will bring to life the company’s motto, “true to our place, diverse by design.”
The Destination Hotels Signature Touchpoints will invite guests to experience a “bite” of local fare and discover a destination with “in the know” local recommendations. These touchpoints encourage visitors to discover their own special experience at each Destination Hotel, further differentiating the brand and providing customers with personal experiences true to each destination.
Destination Taste will welcome guests with a delicious immersion into the property’s local culture through the flavors of the area. Upon arrival, guests are treated to a small bite that draws on the unique cuisine, famous dishes, or hidden gems that are characteristic of each hotel’s rich local culture. La Cantera Resort, A Destination Hotel, for example, will provide a glimpse of what the San Antonio Hill Country oasis has to offer, through candied Texas pecans and dried Fredericksburg peaches that are fused together with caramel, made with Texas wildflower honey. The entire morsel is then dipped into rich, dark chocolate to create the perfect bite-sized introduction to what guests can find at La Cantera Resort. Or, at Tempe Mission Palms, A Destination Hotel savor a taste of Tempe with homemade cranberry orange muffins made with locally grown grains from Hayden Flour Mills and orange zest from the property’s very own citrus trees. Hotel staff members will fill in guests on the legend of Charles Hayden who, in 1868 stood on top of Tempe Butte and looked out on the fertile land surrounding him, envisioning an ideal spot to establish Hayden Flour Mills, now on of Tempe’s most iconic buildings and a primary reason the city exists today. Much more than a snack, Destination Taste will represent an invitation to connect with each property’s unique locale. In addition to experiencing a ‘taste of the place’, many properties are providing guests with recipes or the option of purchasing the taste to take home.
Through Destination Discovery, guests will be provided with shortlists of truly ‘in-the-know’ local recommendations, which will be organized in a flexible ‘Walk / Run / Drive’ system (or three categories), making it easy for them to get out and explore, no matter how much—or how little—time they have in the area. Each property will encourage guests to take cards that allow them to tailor an experience to explore and discover the destination. In Washington, at Suncadia, A Destination Hotel, visitors can try the 1,000 steps staircase that descends from the back of The Lodge at Suncadia down to its Riverfront Park, or take a drive up the Salmon La Sac region - one of the best scenic drives in the state. Guests can also choose to see how the locals live in some of the eight unique neighborhoods within Suncadia through the Real Estate Company’s Sunday Home Tours. Or, at Paradise Point Resort & Spa, A Destination Hotel in San Diego, explore Mission Bay’s 4,200 acres out on the water. Grab a stand-up paddleboard or kayak from the marina and complete the two-mile loop around the island. Travel under the Ingraham Bridge, get a behind-the-scenes look at SeaWorld’s cirque stadium, and stop to savor the view of downtown San Diego. Back on land, toast to completing the expedition with drinks at the legendary Barefoot Bar & Grill. Destination Hotels’ ambassadors will help guests with details and planning to ensure that they experience the perfect Destination Discovery for their visit.
Destination Suitcase is an engaging pre-planning tool that helps guests explore a range of unique, inspiring things to do during their stay, leading them on a path to individual discovery. Guests can ‘unpack’ a suitcase of items that will correspond to on-property activities, local culture and information, and tips on ways to explore the area, in order to help them immerse in everything that the Destination hotel has to offer. At Stowe Mountain Lodge, A Destination Hotel in Stowe, VT, guests can select from a mountain bike, snowshoes, helmet with goggles and a carabiner. Through Destination Suitcase, Destination Hotels aims to help the guests establish a more meaningful connection to the property by discovering all the hotel and area has to offer.
Earlier this year, Destination Hotels revealed its new website, logo, and its partnership with like-minded partner, Nest Fragrances, further positioning Destination Hotels as a cohesive collection of properties unlike any other hotel company. Destination Hotels’ brand promise is to let its collective individuality shine, while staying united in its commitment to make each Destination stay experience unique, memorable and highly distinctive, shaped by local culture.
