What do the pros recommend to stay fit?

What do the pros recommend to stay fit? 

If you are looking to stay healthy or start a new routine, the current recommended fitness guidelines include muscular strength, muscular endurance, cardiovascular training, balance and flexibility training, mind/body, meditation, yoga and brain fitness/cognitive exercises. There are so many formats and intensity levels to challenge yourself which include circuit training, high intensity interval training, TRX classes, boot camp, and sport specific training.

 

If you are traveling, how can I still stay fit?

When I travel, I typically check out a hotel's fitness center and the availability of exercise classes. I also take advantage of hotel amenities, such a swimming pool, tennis courts, hiking and walking trails, meditation, yoga and stretching classes and indoor and outdoor biking. I will also bring resistance bands and tubing to do exercises while traveling. Body weight exercises such as squats, lunges, push-ups and planks are easy to perform. Most hotels have fitness equipment such as treadmills, elliptical and strength equipment. There are plenty of ways to get exercise in by exploring new places, wear a pedometer and keep track of steps and take the stairs when possible.

Any quick repetitions or workouts that you can do from home or in your guest room? 

In a guest room, it is easy to do exercises such as a sit to stand from a chair, planks, bridge work from the floor, wall or floor push-ups and stretching.

 

What are some options for working out, for example, not everyone can lift weights?

There are so many great options for variety in training. Water walking in an indoor or outdoor pool, participating in gentle yoga or meditation classes, stretching classes, and outdoor walking. Most of all, make exercise an enjoyable activity and have fun. Find an exercise partner or take a group exercise class. Don't be afraid to try something new!
