Q. What airport should I fly into?

A. We advise you to fly directly into Kahului airport (OGG) on Maui as it will save you a two-hour layover in Honolulu and a connecting flight (30 minutes).

Q. What is the best way to get around on Maui?

A. If you are planning on doing a great deal of sightseeing on your Maui vacation, we recommend that you rent a car. Parking is free of charge at Ka’anapali Alii. The parking garage height limit is 80”. Most multi-passenger vans exceed that height so please be sure to rent a vehicle under the height limit.

If you prefer not to rent a car, Executive Transportation or SpeediShuttle provide shared rides and airport transfers to and from the airport.

For local transportation, taxis are readily available on Maui or you can take the Maui Bus from Ka’anapali Alii to Lahaina for just $2 one-way. There is a free Ka’anapali Resort shuttle service for transportation to the Ka’anapali golf course and to other locations within Ka’anapali Resort.

Q. What is the time difference in Maui?
A. Hawaii has its own time zone and does not observe daylight savings. When daylight savings is in effect on the Mainland (that’s what locals call the Continental U.S.), Hawaii is three hours behind the West Coast and six hours behind the East Coast. When the rest of the U.S. reverts back to standard time in the Fall, Hawaii is two hours behind the West Coast and five hours behind the East Coast.

Q. Is there Internet access at Ka’anapali Alii?
A. There is free high-speed WiFi Internet access for guests at Ka’anapali Alii.

Q. Do I need a power converter?
A. Electricity is the same as the U.S. Mainland: 120 v/ 60 Hz. If you are traveling from somewhere outside North America, you may need to purchase a voltage converter, if your device does not accept this configuration.

Q. When is peak Maui travel time?
A. Anytime is a good time for a Maui vacation at Ka’anapali Alii. The average temperature in Maui ranges between 75˚-85˚ F. Summertime (between April and November) tends to be warmer and dry. The fall and the winter can be a little cooler.

What to pack

  • Maui is very casual; shorts, t-shirts and sandals are perfectly acceptable in most restaurants and a casual dress or aloha shirt with khakis is appropriate even in fine dining restaurants. Aloha wear will be appropriate everywhere during your Maui vacation, so if you are planning to buy an aloha shirt or muumuu, you will fit right in.
  • Bring t-shirts, shorts, bathing suits and a cover up to throw on at the beach when you've had enough sun for the day, as well as tennis shoes and rubber water shoes or flip-flops (slippers). If you will be hiking, or horseback riding, be sure to bring suitable footwear. It's always a good idea to bring a windbreaker, a sweater, or a light jacket as the evening can sometimes get breezy.
  • Remember the tropical sun can be harsh, so be sure to pack strong sunscreen, a hat and a good pair of sunglasses. If you plan to view the sunrise from the top of Haleakala Crater, temperature at the 10,000 foot elevation can reach 40°F (4°C), so be sure to bring a warm jacket.
