The Embassy Row Hotel Unveils Redesigned Rooftop For Summer Season

Washington, D.C. (May 5, 2016) – The Embassy Row Hotel, A Destination Hotel, welcomes the 2016 summer season with the grand reopening of its celebrated outdoor watering hole – The Rooftop. To mark the occasion, the hotel will debut a new programming lineup catering to both guests and locals from silent discos to sunrise yoga sessions, crafted by newly appointed Rooftop Manager Maurice Moreno.

Moreno brings nearly 18 years of hospitality entertainment experience to The Rooftop, having managed the programming at resorts including the Westin Diplomat and Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida. Most recently, he managed the Boca Raton Resort & Club, Waldorf Astoria. In his new role, Moreno will direct all operations on The Rooftop from food and beverage to nightlife and community programming, including the hotel’s celebrated “Support A Cause” fundraising nights – a passion point for the District’s only lifestyle hotel.

This season, The Rooftop bar will reveal a fresh design, including a new bar rail with a picturesque view of the city, following the hotel’s $15 million transformation last spring. Guests can lounge in teak deck chairs and enjoy access to the stunning heated saltwater chlorine swimming pool – recognized as “One of Best Rooftop Pools in America,” by USA Today. For the first time, exclusive daybeds and couches are available for rental.

The Rooftop will officially open for the season on Friday, May 6 with a special edition of the standing “Hooky Friday” promotion. From 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., patrons will enjoy complimentary day-pass pool access to The Rooftop bar with drink specials. The season’s full programming line-up is outlined below:

  • Hooky Friday: Summer Fri-daze. Head out early and enjoy ½ off signature cocktails while lounging poolside from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. each Friday.
  • Silent Disco Shut Up and Dance. Enjoy the great outdoors atop The Rooftop grooving to the latest beats with Silent Disco by the Silent Disco Society. Headsets can be rented for $15 in advance or $20 at the door from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. each Friday.
  • Epic Yoga DC – Say Ohm. Popular local studio, Epic Yoga, takes the stage for sunrise classes from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. each Saturday and Sunday. Admission is free for hotel guests; $19 for locals.
  • Art in to Dusk - We will not keep calm this District summer. An event that highlights local artists, including art exhibitions and live and visual creative installations. Relax on The Rooftop and enjoy drink specials in Dupont Circle such as Sangria, wine and champagne specials while watching the sun fall beneath D.C.’s horizon. This summer series occurs every Thursday, beginning May 26 through September 29, from 6:30 p.m. – 10 p.m. Free entry with registration.
  • Liquid Brunch – Sunday Funday. Cap off your weekend with a rooftop pool party and Liquid Brunch specials on Sundays from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Support a Cause Wednesdays – Drink for a cause. In its third season, The Rooftop will continue its Support a Cause Wednesdays. Patrons can schedule a fundraising happy hour; the hotel donates $1 from house wine, draft beer and a Support a Cause cocktail to the cause.

The Rooftop is open each day from 7 a.m. until 10 p.m. (weekdays) and 11 p.m. (weekends), with the pool closing at 6 p.m., weather dependent. The Rooftop bar is free and open to the public. Hotel guests enjoy complimentary access to the pool, and additional day-passes for locals are sold for $30 and can be purchased on The Rooftop starting at noon for that day. The Rooftop is also available for private events.
