The Embassy Row Hotel_Romance

Top 6 Most Romantic Places in Washington, D.C.

The nation’s capital is a staple for romance with its abundance of beautiful nooks and crannies and endless possibilities for the perfect date night. From the stunning parks, monuments, and exciting attractions, here are The Embassy Row Hotel’s top six most romantic places in Washington, D.C.

Spanish Steps

If you’re looking for one of D.C.’s best kept secrets, the Spanish Steps are a sure way to go. Tucked away in a cloak of lush magnolias, azaleas and greenery, the park’s secluded location gives the steps a sense of secrecy and intimacy that gives the impression that you found a special place to win your date over. Make this elegant, sophisticated D.C. gem a “thing” in your relationship.

Gravelly Point

We hate to give away all of our secrets, but Gravelly Point is another unconventional date night that would give your other half a “heart attack”. Located less than two miles outside the city, Gravelly Point is known as one of the best romantic places in the country to picnic and watch planes. Watch your relationship take-off as planes fly across the open skies.

There is no admission fee.

National Mall

Take a scenic stroll alongside the nation’s most historic monuments, but do it with a twist. Fortunately, the National Mall and Memorial Parks are open 24 hours a day, but it is easiest to visit early evening or during the morning, when the city is at rest. Make history and stop at The Jefferson Memorial to steal a quick kiss or plant yourself in the columns along the Lincoln Memorial and watch the sunrise.

National Gallery of Art

Love itself is a work of art, but the National Gallery of Art is an excellent backdrop. Get dreamy and peruse some of the most famous masterpieces of iconic artists to the likes of Clause Monet and Auguste Renoir. When you’re done with your rendezvous inside, exit to the National Gallery of Art’s most recent addition, the Sculpture Garden, to enjoy unique, year-round installations. During the winter, the garden turns into a romantic ice skating rink.

National Gallery of Art’s Ice Skating Admission costs just $8.50 per person, while skate rentals are only $3 per person.

U.S. Botanical Garden

Is that the smell of love in the air? Or is it roses? It could be a mixture of both when you surprise your date with a romantic trip to the U.S. Botanical Garden, one of the oldest botanic gardens in North America. Its collections date all the way back to the 1840s and contains two courtyard gardens and 10 glass rooms totaling to a near 30,000 square feet of gardens - that’s plenty of history, flower arrangements and space to wow your significant other.

Admission to the U.S. Botanic Garden is free.

The National Harbor

If you’re looking for a more traditional date, take your date to the National Harbor for the best, and most exciting view of the Potomac River from the 180-foot Capital Wheel. The Harbor provides a plethora of dining options and things to do. Set sail to the National Mall in a Water Taxi or catch a performance right on the waterfront.

Capital Wheel tickets range from $15 to $50 per person.

Remember, there’s always time for chocolates and flowers. Romance doesn’t end on February 14, so we’ll be offering our Embassy Row-mance Package all month long!
