Nothing says “Welcome Spring” like the National Cherry Blossom Festival in D.C., one of the nation’s greatest springtime celebrations. This year, there will be four weeks of events commemorating the March 27, 1912 gift of Japanese cherry trees. Check them out below.
Start the 2017 National Cherry Blossom Festival in the Warner Theatre on March 25 with world-renowned American and Japanese performers celebrating birth and renewal. Although the event is free, advance ticketing required. There will be a $5 registration fee when tickets are claimed.
From March 25 to April 9, there will be daily performances at the Tidal Basin. Enjoy Cherry Blossom food, souvenirs, interactive entertainment and daily performances.
Welcome Area open daily from 10 AM – 7 PM; Performances daily from 12 PM – 6 PM.
Kite enthusiasts nationwide will gather at the grounds of the Washington Monument near 17th Street NW and Constitution Avenue on April 1, 2017 from 10 am to 4:30 pm for kite demonstrations and competitions. Bring your own kite or make your own (while supplies last).
On April 8, witness one of D.C.’s most anticipated spring events, the National Cherry Blossom Festival Parade! Get excited for spring with celebrity entertainers, balloons, floats, marching bands and more. We recommend you to arrive early for the best views.
The parade will happen from Constitution Avenue from 7th to 17th streets, NW. Standing along the Parade route from Constitution Avenue between 9th and 15th streets, NW is FREE and open to the public. Starting at $20 for Grandstand Seating.
Round off the 2017 National Cherry Blossom Festival with a bang. April 15, 2017, go to The Wharf or to the Titanic Memorial for live music, food trucks, and entertainment for all ages.
