Maui Fire Response & Updates

Last update 9/8/23 at 9am

Mahalo for your patience as we navigate the ongoing wildfire situation on Maui. The entire Maui community is devastated by the destruction and loss the island has witnessed and our team is working hard to ensure the safety of our colleagues, owners, and guests. We will update this page with new information as we receive it and send communications via email for guests and owners.

FOR ALL UPCOMING ARRIVALS:

Please note that the Wailea/Makena/Kihei region of Maui has experienced no significant damage. Your current reservation remains in place and our property operations will continue as usual.

CONDITIONS IN SOUTH MAUI (WAILEA, MAKENA, KIHEI)

There has not been any damage to south Maui towns or infrastructure. All restaurants, tour activities, beaches, parks, hotels, and storefronts are in full normal operation in south Maui. While the road out to West Maui is now open, it is strongly encouraged that only those in need make the journey in order to keep roads flowing smoothly. Lahaina town is closed to emergency personnel only.

CELL PHONE TOWERS AND ELECTRICTY STILL DOWN

Power lines and cell phone towers have been down in most areas of West Maui since August 8th. Power has now been restored to all but 1,800 of the 12,400 customers who lost power in West Maui. Maui Electric has been working around the clock to repair infrastructure. In Wailea and south Maui electricity and phones are working perfectly.

WHERE TO DONATE

In the wake of the devastating Maui wildfires, many of our Destination Residences Hawaii ‘ohana that live in Lahaina have tragically lost their homes. These individuals have been the backbone of our resort operations and now find themselves in dire need of support to rebuild their lives. We have set up a GoFundMe page that will support our staff.

ROAD CLOSURES

The highway into West Maui through Ma'alaea is now open to all motorists daily from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. Access from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. will be limited to residents, first responders, and employees of West Maui. The Maui Police Department will cite and tow vehicles parked along the Lahaina Bypass.
