Just a short drive up the coast from Wailea is the Maui Ocean Center in Ma’alaea Harbor. Celebrating two decades of marine stewardship, this aquarium has been named one of the Top 10 Aquariums in the world by TripAdvisor’s Travellers Choice awards.
On February 10, a brand new exhibit, “Humpbacks of Hawaii,” will makes its debut and bring visitors eye to eye with Maui’s most famous visitors, even if you’re visiting outside of whale season (which runs November-March).
The Maui Ocean Center is filled with exhibits highlighting the marine beauty that exists just off the coast of Maui. The Open Ocean Exhibit allows visitors to experience the beautiful world of Hawaiian sea life, showcasing six species of sharks, numerous fish, and several types of stingrays. A Tuesday evening yoga class is available in this room, a completely unique experience sure to be a treasured memory.
