Cliff House in Cape Neddick, Maine
After a major transformational renovation, Cliff House on the beautiful rocky coast of southern Maine (an hour north of Boston), is set to open this July with a completely new look and feel. The more than 130 redesigned guest rooms and suites with stunning ocean views incorporate coastal chic, handcrafted design elements. (The second phase of the renovation will debut in spring 2017, when the hotel’s guest rooms will reach more than 200.) Spa-goers will want to visit the 9,000-square-foot oceanfront luxury spa, and the more active guests will want to make sure to take part in the golf, tennis, sea kayaking, and paddleboarding available to them. For golfers, there is the Cape Neddick Country Club, an 18-hole semiprivate golf course adjacent to the hotel. (Preferred tee times are available to hotel guests through the concierge.) Dining options include The Tiller Restaurant, which offers a feast for the eyes with its panoramic views of the Atlantic (and for the actual meal, plenty of fresh local fish). And because a visit to Maine wouldn’t be complete without lobster, there’s also Nubb’s Lobster Shack near the pool and lawn lounge.
