Continuing its holiday tradition, The Carolina Inn will celebrate the Christmas season with enchanting decorations inspired by everyone’s favorite Christmas carol, The Twelve Days of Christmas. The property’s 20th annual Twelve Days of Christmas includes extravagant holiday décor and Christmas trees and includes festive events – which even includes a gingerbread house competition – beginning Friday, December 1st through Tuesday, January 2nd. NEW this year is The Carolina Inn Holiday Market and the Holiday Express, a special reading of The Polar Express with Santa’s helpers.

The Carolina Inn is creating the perfect destination to shop for all your holiday needs. Vendors from all over North Carolina will be present including local favorite Mama Dips, Moon and Lola, a chocolatier and more. An outstanding lineup of local food trucks (Chirba Chirba, Cocoa Forte) and exceptional offerings from Crossroads Chapel Hill’s culinary team will also be available, including soft pretzels, fried dough, donuts, s’mores, hot chocolate, caramel apples, mulled wine and more. Whether you want to relax with a hot chocolate or opt for something a little stronger like a mulled wine or a craft beer, you will not want to miss the opportunity to soak up the atmosphere of the season.
Holiday Afternoon Teas December 1st – 31st (except Christmas Day)
Festive holiday decorations and music will surround perfectly steeped teas in vintage china cups and saucers, along with a beautiful tower featuring assorted tea sandwiches, savory nibbles and sweet delights per person.
Holiday Express December 17th
Join the holiday elves for a special reading of The Polar Express with cookie decorating, ornament making, an afternoon snack and train ride around the Inn. $30 per child, 5% of all proceeds from this event will be donated to the Toys for Tots.
Santa is Coming to The Carolina Inn December 10, 16, 17, 21 – 24
A festive breakfast or brunch will undoubtedly usher in the Christmas magic for young and old alike. Magicians and face painters will be on hand to entertain everyone. Each child is welcome to sit on Santa’s lap and share their Christmas wish list. Every child will leave with a holiday treat.
Afternoon with the Sugar Plum Fairy December 10th
The Triangle Youth Ballet presents an Afternoon with The Sugar Plum Fairy. Ballerinas will dance as guests can sample treats from the land of sweets. Enjoy Nutcracker story time. See a magic show and get a picture with the Sugar Plum Fairy! It's the perfect holiday gathering.
Make A Gingerbread House December 22nd & 23rd
Just in time for Christmas, The Carolina Inn is hosting a children's Gingerbread House Making Class. Join a cozy afternoon that begins with a story of Christmas magic. Each child will then be able to assemble and decorate a Gingerbread House complete with an apron, chef's hat and all the holiday sweets and goodies. At the end of class, each child will take home a completed Gingerbread House and accessories.
