Hailing from Massachusetts, Mark Hickey’s first job in the hospitality business during high school was a dishwasher for a local club. With 40+ years in the industry, he has had many opportunities to perfect his first job duties as well as travel the country; becoming a General Manager in his mid-20s and joining Destination in 1995. Mark has the innate understanding, knowledge and appreciation of the varied roles and commitment it takes in the sales and operation disciplines of a successful hotel based on his firsthand experiences. Always rooted in a strong value-based culture, he has helped build winning teams throughout his leadership career. “I am not a product of my circumstances, I am a product of my decisions” is how he lives his life, to quote Stephen Covey. Through his ability to cultivate and sustain long and trusting relationships, he can articulate the “Destination Difference” to any audience with confidence and conviction, leaving the receiver of the message wanting to understand more about the company, its culture, and outstanding people. It is no coincidence that Mark has chosen business development as his career focus. When not working or on the road, he can be found on the soccer fields with his two daughters, Lauren and Alexa, skiing, in the gym, adventure racing, or at home with his daughters and his lovely wife, Dana.
Jason Gold is an “interested independent” – it’s what drove him to pack up, leave the Northeast and move to Denver to explore a new part of the country. His passion for the authentic translates into his focused perspective on pursing new business opportunities for Destination that enhance the existing portfolio of independent and lifestyle hotels. With an education in hospitality administration from Cornell University’s School of Hotel Administration and several years working for PwC and Lehman Brothers, Jason is sharply analytically focused and loves digging into numbers, to quantify and qualify. He spent six years working for Denihan Hospitality Group out of New York City, where he honed his skills in the boutique hotel arena before seeking greener and larger pastures to start his family in Denver. With three kids now in tow and am amazing wife who deserves all the credit, he is loving every day of the journey! Jason is a passionate and hard worker, yet hasn’t “worked” a day since joining Destination…“choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life.”
Brad Barth joined Destination Hotels in 2013. He has spent his entire career in the hospitality industry and resort space, working with multiple boutique hotels as well as resorts, leading various sales and marketing initiates with Northstar-at-Tahoe, Sierra-at-Tahoe, Alpine Meadows and Homewood Mountain Resort. Brad is an alumni of Central Michigan University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and a major in Marketing and Recreational Management. When not working to expand Destination’s footprint in the major resort markets throughout North America, Brad can be found enjoying the outdoors, hiking through the mountains with his dog Milo and girlfriend Lauri, riding his mountain bike or playing golf.
Andy realized he wanted to spend his career in the hospitality space when residing in Sydney, Australia and working for a boutique tourism and development consultancy. He has a global perspective on hospitality, having worked in the arena all across the world (United States, Mexico, Caribbean, South America, Australia, New Zealand, and Malaysia, to name a few). After having investigated and evaluated hundreds of hotels and resorts of all shapes and sizes, he brings a pragmatic rationale to the table. While Andy enjoys working with the team on complicated, detailed analyses and thinking out-of-the-box, when he’s out of the office, it can be hard to track him down. He enjoys spending time with his over-sized chocolate lab, Lloyd, and has a passion for the outdoors. Andy spends his winters skiing and summers playing volleyball, relishing any opportunity to escape up to the mountains.
Emmy Hise has loved the hospitality industry since college, when she began her career as an intern for Sage Hospitality with their acquisition team. Upon graduating from the University of Colorado at Boulder, she spent time working in operations and then at CBRE for nearly four years, where she became a senior analyst working on hotel dispositions. Known for her go-getting attitude and willingness to try anything at least once, she also considers herself a Microsoft Excel “nerd” and loves being active. In her spare time, if she is not playing or talking about sports, you can find her at the park with her husband and their two fun-loving dogs, Lucy and Mabel.
Bryan joined Destination Hotels in November 2014. He had spent the previous year and a half working in the revenue department for Hotel Zetta, a Viceroy Hotel, in San Francisco and before that, worked in operations at the Cliffs Resort in Shell Beach, Ca. Bryan is an alumni of the University of California Santa Barbara and recently completed Cornell University’s Professional Development Program in Hotel Real Estate and Investment. Bryan is a sports enthusiast and has taken full advantage of Colorado’s mountain scene since his move to the state. Nothing is more important to him than his family and he’s excited to show them his life in Colorado during their next visit.
