Why You Should Visit La Perouse Bay

One of Maui’s best kept secrets

While South Maui is frequented by tourists, we recommend venturing a little further south to the lesser-known, but equally gorgeous La Perouse Bay. (It’s actually the most southern point on the coast you can reach by car.)

Named after Jean-François de La Pérouse, a French explorer who was the first European to set foot on Maui in 1786, the destination offers up striking, unparalleled beauty. While the bay doesn’t have much sand, there’s lots of ancient lava flows, caves, rugged coastline, and pods of Hawaiian Spinner Dolphins to explore and experience. Make sure to visit this unique natural destination, during your next visit to Maui!
