Top Hikes in Snowmass
These trails offer great fitness and views
Given its gorgeous, rugged natural backdrop, Snowmass is a terrific destination for hikers. But if it’s your first time visiting the area, why not try your hand (or feet, more accurately) at these three popular local hikes?
The Ditch Trail is a flat 1.7 mile hike that winds around the back of the Snowmass Ski Area. It’s ideal for an easy hike, run, or mountain bike ride, and happens to be dog friendly as well. It also offers breathtaking views of the Snowmass Creek Valley.
Of moderate difficulty, this 4.2 mile trail begins in Base Village and snakes up through aspen groves and lush meadows to the top of Elk Camp’s gondola, rewarding you with expansive views of Brush Creek Valley. It’s best suited for a more intense hike or trail running.
Tom Blake Trail
Like Vista Trail, Tom Blake is another moderate one that’s better for more veteran outdoor enthusiasts. It’s 3.91 miles long, and because of its exceptionally smooth surface, is especially a good fit for mountain bikers.
