Explore all of the things to do in Seattle, beyond the Space Needle.

Think Seattle, Washington, and most likely the beloved Space Needle and Pike Place Market immediately come to mind. From family activities to events for art lovers, there’s something for just about everyone in this idyllic coastal city.

Aviation and aerospace aficionados shouldn't miss a visit to The Museum of Flight. Home to one of the largest air and space collections in the country, the museum is set to launch exhibits such as Apollo F-1 Engine Preview which will display recovered artifacts from Nasa’s Apollo 12 and 16 missions to the moon including the injector plate from Apollo 12’s #3 engine.

Opened in 1977, the
Seattle Aquarium includes a harbor seal exhibit, an underwater dome, and a daily octopus feeding. Other exhibits range from the Window on Washington Waters with 800 fish and invertebrates (divers give demonstrations and talks three times daily), to Pacific Coral Reef with a 25,000-gallon tank with Tangs, Saddle Wrasses, and Triggerfish.

For a breath of fresh air and a close-up look at local plants, head to the Washington Park Arboretum. Comprised of 230 acres, the bucolic park includes ponds, walking trails, and a Japanese garden with wooden bridges and idyllic streams.  Consider it the ultimate city escape. For a few hours, that is.
