Sweetgrass Cultural Arts Festival

Don’t miss one of Charleston’s most unique events

On June 2nd, at Mount Pleasant’s popular Waterfront Park, the 14th annual Sweetgrass Cultural Arts Festival will take place. The daylong event honors one of Charleston’s most unique local crafts and its artisans: the Gullah Geechee people, and their sweetgrass basket making art form. Celebrated basketmaker Henrietta Snype will be holding a live basketmaking demo, while a bevy of other fun events (including live performances, childrens’ activities, and terrific low country cuisine (like bbq ribs and seafood rice) will be available to keep everyone full and happy. Even better? Admission and parking are free, so make sure to bring all your friends!
