Portland’s Cascade Brewing
This brewery was way ahead of the trend
Have you heard about the latest beer trend? Sour beers are exactly what their name suggests. Tart, zingy, and even a touch funky, these brews are opening up a whole new flavor profile to even the most staunch beer fans. While there are new spots dedicated to these bright-tasting brews popping up all over the country, there’s been one in Portland that’s been doing it since 1998. Cascade Brewing opened, in part, to offer an alternative to the overly hoppy beers that still dominate the country today. (But having easy access to wine barrels from nearby Willamette Valley and locally-sourced fruit certainly helped.) Today, the business remains a destination for beer lovers from all over the world – by staying true to what they set out to do over 20 years ago.
