A Photographer’s Guide to Sedona
Where to snap the best photos
From panoramic red rock vistas to challenging hiking trails, Sedona is a rare destination that awakens your creativity and inspires beautiful photography. Below, a handy guide on some of Sedona’s best spots for taking pictures.
Schnebly Hill Road
This is one of the most popular routes in the destination – it’s filled with twists, turns, and steep cliffs – and offers up some of the most breathtaking views around. Though the drive is not easy, you’ll be rewarded with plenty of spectacular opportunities for photos along the way. Schnebly Hill Vista, perched at 6,000 feet, is especially solid for photos, as it overlooks the Verde Valley and Sedona below the summit.
Red Rock State Park
For something a little less daunting, try hiking Red Rock State Park. Located just southwest of Sedona, it’s easy to get to and traverse. Hike any of the park’s trails, and you’ll come across both heart-stopping views and sublime spots to snap up Insta-worthy pics.
Cathedral Rock is one of the area’s most beloved area landmarks, and it’s easy to see why. While there’s a trail that takes you through various points on Cathedral Park, the best shots are taken a distance away – to capture the surrounding site.
