Where to drink in the turquoise trend

It wasn’t all that long ago when we couldn’t escape unicorns. Baristas were whipping them into wildly vivid and psychedelic coffee concoctions, while bakers were using the rainbow shades to liven up their everyday bagels. 

But now, it’s time to make room for the next colorful trend in the culinary world: mermaids.

A prosecco company in Italy recently started producing an already best-selling, aqua-colored version of the fizzy libation. And at Cliff House Maine, beverage manager Caitlin Hula just unveiled her take on the trend, The Siren. An eye-catching, turquoise-hued blend of homemade watermelon and coconut infused rum, blood orange juice, pineapple juice, and Blue Curacao, it’s both refreshing and fun to drink.

As for her inspiration, Hula explains: “When creating The Siren, I wanted to bring in quintessential summer ingredients for our guests to enjoy. The rum and fruit juices will transport you onto a beach, with your toes in the sand.”
