Mexican Restaurants You Can’t Miss in Tempe

Green chili, tacos, and so much more

Tempe, Arizona, is home to a bevy of terrific Mexican cuisine. Here are three Mexican restaurants in Tempe you can’t miss.

Casa Reynoso
Tucked away in Fry’s shopping center is this family-owned spot that’s been open since 1984. The decor is reminiscent of being in a hacienda (think dark wood, mosaic tile floor, and stained glass), and the food is equal parts comforting and delicious. The red and green chili are the house specialties, and don’t miss the best-selling Gollo burro, which is stuffed with green chili, pinto beans, onions, and cheese.

La Casa De Juana
It’s always a fun time at this lively restaurant, which frequently features live music. As the name implies, the inspiration is drawn from the matriarchs of Mexican families, who’d lovingly prepare hearty, from-scratch meals every night. The menu is packed with familiar comforts, including guacamole, enchiladas, and tamales, and also includes plenty of options for vegetarians.

Maskadores Taco Shop
The colorful murals of Mexican wrestlers and masks lend this spot a funky, hip vibe. Simply order at the counter, grab your tray of food, and sit down to a delicious, affordable meal. While there are no misses here, it’s the famed street tacos you should try. All of them come loaded with your choice of protein (like barbacoa beef, tinga chipotle chicken, and pork carnitas) and are small enough to make a meal out of a few.
