A Guide to San Diego’s Gaslamp Quarter

This fun neighborhood had something for everybody

Occupying 16 blocks in downtown San Diego, the historic Gaslamp Quarter is home to over 100 of the area’s most beloved restaurants, bars, and boutiques, and where you’ll discover a unique mix of Victorian-era buildings and contemporary skyscrapers. Looking to indulge in a little retail therapy? Then beeline to Horton Plaza, a multi-level outdoor mall that’s home to a bevy of hip shops. If you’re traveling with kids, check out Petco Park for a baseball game and explore the educational exhibitions at the New Children’s Museum. While there’s no shortage of terrific restaurants, locals recommend Werewolf, Searsucker, and Rustic Root. As San Diego’s craft beer scene is big, no visit to Gaslamp would be complete without a tasting of local brews at The Hopping Pig Gastropub, Barleymash, and The Tipsy Cow.
