Charleston is home to one of the most thrillingly diverse dining scenes in the country. So if you’re headed to the Holy City soon, be sure to check out these buzzy and delicious newcomers.
The dining room of this Italian-inspired eatery is no doubt, pretty, but it’s the crowd-pleasing cuisine that’s packed in the crowds since opening in September. From a classic chopped salad, to chicken cacciatore, to family-style pastas, there’s something for every occasion and appetite.
The second restaurant by the owners of Xiao Bao Biscuit, another Asian mainstay in town, Tu marries a cheerful, quirky decor with quirky, Asian-leaning small plates (think pho carpaccio and green tomato tacos with Thai sausage) – proving there’s more to Charleston’s dining scene than belly-busting Southern comforts.
The match the seafood-centric menu, the decor is fittingly nautical (think oceanic blue velvet curtains and an anchor flag). Though the selection of raw oysters is diverse and delicious, there’s plenty of other dishes to tuck into, like chili garlic shrimp, mackerel curry, and grouper cheeks.
