We had the pleasure of catching up with Coastal Provisions’ new mixologist, Sean O’Brien, to discover what he loves most about his job, cocktail trends he sees on the horizon, and how he enjoys his downtime in Charleston. 

What do you love most about your job, and working where you do? 
The opportunity to be creative and having unique guest interactions. Coastal Provisions and Wild Dunes allows me to be able to meet people from all over. 

How would you describe your approach to making cocktails? 
Simple and Classic with a twist.  

And how do you get inspired to come up with new creations? 
Interesting flavor combinations. 

What are your bar’s best sellers, and why do you think they’re so popular? 
The Rum Old Fashion and Let it Linger, because they’re recognizable cocktails, but with a fun twist.

What cocktail trends do you see, based on what your customers are ordering and requesting? 
A large resurgence in classics like an Old Fashioned, Martinis, and Manhattans. 

Charleston’s a fun town. How do you like spend your downtime? 
Taking advantage of all it has to offer, but mainly eating and drinking!
