Can’t Miss Coffee Shops in Richmond
How this charming southern town in Virginia stays buzzed
If you’re headed to this hip town, don’t miss the three best locally-owned coffee shops in Richmond.
Lamplighter Roasting Company
What this spot – located just south of the Fan District – lacks, in terms of seating and tables, it makes up for with its chic, airy decor (think succulents and exposed brick walls) and superbly-prepared espresso drinks. Not to be missed is the best-selling brown sugar latte. Despite its name, it’s perfectly balanced and not overly sweet.
This multi-roaster shop sources beans from all over the country and rotates them frequently, so there’s something to cater to even the biggest coffee snob. The baristas are always friendly and super knowledgeable, so don’t be shy about asking for recommendations. Locals especially love the house cold brew.
Blanchard’s Coffee Roasting Co.
Founded by David Blanchard over a decade ago, this retail space and roastery maintains a refreshingly warm and open environment. Even though Blanchard’s produces beans for some big-name retailers (like Whole Foods and Wegmans), anyone can drop in to buy coffee. There’s even free public cuppings held on Fridays at 10:30 am.
