Best Charleston Beaches
Where to enjoy the best local sun and sand
Charleston is a beloved destination for many reasons, but no trip this summer would be complete with an excursion to one (or more) of its legendary area beaches. Below are three you can’t miss during your next visit to the Holy City.
Isle of Palms
This spot is especially popular with families and groups, with its bevy of amenities and relaxing beaches. (Travel tip: don’t miss “Front Beach,” a lively strip between 10th and14th Avenue). In need of a terrific hotel? Look no further than Wild Dunes Resort.
If you’re seeking great rolling waves and surf, head to this barrier island beach conveniently located just 15 minutes from downtown Charleston. Easygoing and laid back, Folly Beach is also home to an iconic fishing pier – which is terrific for picture-taking.
The island, located about 30 miles south from Charleston, is most famous for its world-class golf courses and spectacular greenery. But there’s a pristine beach, too, at Kiawah Beachwalker Park. It’s open to the public and breathtakingly beautiful.
