24 Hours in Scottsdale and Tempe

Our guide to the perfect day in Scottsdale and Tempe

If you’ve got just one day in Scottsdale and Tempe, we recommend kicking off the morning with exploring downtown Tempe on foot, and enjoying breakfast at local favorites Snooze or NCounter. Then, head to the pedestrian-friendly Mill Avenue District, which is home to lots of unique shops, restaurants, and entertainment. Afterwards, relax with a scenic boat ride in Tempe Town Lake, before heading to Old Town in Scottsdale. Shop for western souvenirs like cowboy boots and cactus candy, then make your way to the historic Rusty Spur Saloon for a late lunch of burgers, burritos, and chili. Cool off with the signature top hat sundae at the adorable ice cream shop, Sugar Bowl. End your day with a relaxing sunset stroll through the Desert Botanical Garden. Want to spend the night? We recommend The Scottsdale Resort at McCormick Ranch or Tempe Mission Palms.
