Pamela Devaney Takes on New Post as Regional Director of Public Relations for Destination Hotels & Resorts' Southern California Collection

Englewood, CO - June 30, 2009 - Maureen Callahan, vice president of marketing for Destination Hotels & Resorts, recently announced that Pamela Devaney was hired to the newly created position of regional director of public relations for the company's Southern California properties. In this new role, Devaney will be responsible for leveraging cooperative opportunities and enhancing the awareness of Estancia La Jolla Hotel & Spa and L'Auberge Del Mar in San Diego, Miramonte Resort & Spa in Indian Wells and the Sheraton Universal in Los Angeles.

"Historically we have had a variety of great public relations agencies representing our Southern California properties," said Callahan. "This year we made the decision to create this new position to not only leverage this collection of unique properties but create a model for a new way in which we can effectively run a public relations program in our company. And, when we found Pam, we knew she was the perfect candidate to shape and create this new way of doing business."

Devaney brings more than 22 years of experience in public relations, marketing, broadcasting, business development and multimedia design to Destination. She has been a business owner, as well as in-house counsel for a number of organizations. Most recently she ran The Devaney Group in San Diego, which was a full service marketing communications consultancy that developed marketing communications programs for its clients, which included print, broadcast and online social media campaigns. Clients of The Devaney Group included Islands Restaurants, NIKE, Green with Music and The Hospital Association of Southern California to name a few.

Prior to running her company in San Diego, Devaney operated Gentry Communications where she built and operated a team of more than 16 associates in San Francisco and Honolulu. As president of the company she grew annual revenues to $1.4 million after three years of operation. Her firm specialized in working with emerging technology companies such as Razorfish, Melbourne IT, Organic and Young and Rubicam - San Francisco along with numerous travel and hospitality industry clients including the Sheraton Palace Hotel, The Campton Place and The Clift Hotel in San Francisco.

Devaney took a break from traditional public relations programming when she was director of development for the California Pacific Medical Center Foundation. In this role, she was responsible for supporting an aggressive multi-million dollar annual fund development goal. Devaney researched and wrote all grant applications and provided donor relations and stewardship for foundation and corporate grant marketing activities. She also managed cross-functional public relations and public affairs efforts executing local awareness campaigns within the internal employee and physician population, as well as the medical center's senior management.

The first decade of her career was in hospitality public relations where she worked for Pan Pacific Hotels & Resorts as well as Hyatt Hotels and Resorts in San Francisco and Waikiki.

Devaney also has utilized her talents as the radio host of "The Power of PR" on the World Talk Radio network, which is the largest Internet Talk station with more than 70 regularly, presented shows. For this program she showcased fresh, new content and engaging guests to discuss topics relevant to agency and corporate communications professionals, business owners and professional service firms. Devaney is a member of the Public Relations Society of America, National Association of Women Business Owners and the Association for Corporate Growth. She is very involved in her community where she has been on the board of the No More SIDS Foundation and an active member of Daybreak Community Church.

A resident of Encinitas, Devaney was born in Southern California and has lived in San Diego for more than seven years. She is a graduate of San Diego State University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communications/Broadcast Journalism and Public Relations. She received her Master's Degree from the University of San Francisco in non-profit administration.
